TAGGED: Honest Scrap Award

>> Wednesday, December 24, 2008

I've been tagged with the Honest Scrap Award by Sheri. Thanks, doll. I'm still a little drugged *read previous post* so this is gonna innnn-teresting mwahahahaha!

So, what does this award mean? It means – “leftovers, fragments, discarded material, and many times truth and honesty is discarded material, considered fragments and left over.” We tell it like it is and let the scraps fall where they may.

The honorees are to: a) first list 10 honest things about yourself - and make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep! B) pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap.

  1. I don't always tell the truth. I don't really lie, but if I feel that the other party can't handle the truth, I'll just zip it. Why bother? They can thank me later when they're not offended by what I didn't say [O_o]
  2. I hate dentists. They keep telling you to be calm and this procedure is not going to hurt a bit, just going to be a little uncomfortable. You lying m*****f*****s!!!
  3. I'm really mean when I'm in pain (as you can tell by No. 2 on the list)
  4. I kinda liked Titanic the first time I watched it. But after hearing My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion for the 40th time, I swore I would never admit to liking the movie. Until now.
  5. Bald men scare me. Sorry, Vin Diesel!
  6. I like to think that I'm pretty good at reading people. 80% of the time, I'm right .
  7. I suck at whodunnit movies. I never even come close! In that John Cusack movie, Identity? I thought it was the spirits of dead native tribes! My husband got that one right on the first try. No fair!
  8. I will always miss my friends in Netcare :`(
  9. If I could have 1 super power, I want to be invisible. Think of all the fun I could have! Sneak into movie theaters, follow people around all day and see what they're up to, go to MHP Mid Valley and read all the books I want... Fun!!
  10. I've always wanted to be a vampire. Like the ones from Anne Rice's novels, thank you very much. Who doesn't want to be beautiful, powerful and immortal? Oooh, and I get to bite people too, yeay!
There you go. I shall dub this random episode, honesty caused by taking too much painkillers due to having your wisdom tooth removed. I would like to read more insane, I mean honest, ramblings by

Arrrgh! The pain! Part II

Had my tooth pulled out on Monday, against my better judgement too I might add. Been having toothache for over a week. But being dentist-a-phobia that I am, I postponed it as long as I could. After a really bad day with it, I faltered and agreed to setup an appointment with the dreaded Dentist.

I know my fears are irrational. I mean, it's better to just get it over and done with rather than to prolong the inevitable, right? Teeth just don't get better on their own. But I. Just. can't. Help. It! I not just dread going to the dentist, I fear it. As in tight stomach, nausea, hyper-ventilate kind of deal.

In the end, I had 1.5 teeth pulled out. One is a stump of a tooth, and the other is my upper right wisdom tooth. The dentist probably figured, 'Hey, she's already drugged up now. Might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone', the heartless bastard.

I'm feeling alittle woozy right now 'cause I've just taken painkillers. Man, this is some good s***. I feel kinda good actually. Wheeeee!

Pikom PC Fair (12 - 14 December 2008)

>> Monday, December 15, 2008

Went to PC Fair on Saturday and Sunday. First, to help my dad buy a laptop for my brother and yesterday to buy Microsoft Office Home and Student (ori lorrrr! no pirated softwares at PC Fair). I am so proud of myself. This is the first time I have purchased original Operating System and Office product, but not the first time buying original software. That honor goes to my beloved Sims2.

I recommended my dad an Acer laptop, I'm not sure of the model. But I know that most IT people know which one I'm talking about.

Retail Price: RM1899
Original OS: Linux (upgraded to Vista Home Basic oem)
Hardware specifications:
  • AMD Turion 2.1 GHz
  • Hard disc space 160GB
  • RAM 1Gb (upgraded to 3Gb)
  • Graphic Card NVidia GeForce 9100 256MB
  • etc
After setting up the computer for my little brother that night (I disabled all gaming options for him mwahahahaha!), my dad thought better get some MS Office installed as well, but cannot use pirated one-mah, cause original OS. So I advised my dad to get Office Home and Student 2007 which they were selling dirt cheap for a mere RM209 (I get better price, RM199, of course!) at PC Fair. My dad OK-ed it, so I went back there on Sunday to buy it.

Wah-lau! All parking full! People were crowding like there's no tomorrow. Some are trying to get better bargains, which is understandable if they're no PC novice, but some are there with the whole family as if makan angin. WTF? In that crowd? Erm, maybe Malaysians need to get a better national past time or something.

Hmmm. I want a new hard disc - huwaaa!! Nowadays, they're even selling ones that are 1Tb (tera byte) as in 10 *100Gb. Erm, maybe I don't need that much space. I could have 10 partitions with 100Gb for each on that HDD but why..? 1,000,000,000,000 bytes? I wouldn't even know what to install/store on it.

Oh, yes. Saw Mama Girl-girl. She was buying a laptop as well. For me, I think I'll stick to clone PCs. Much easier to troubleshoot when it crashes. Let's face it, with me as the user of the computer, how can it not crash?

p.s. major announcement soon, maybe. Nothing is official so... we'll see.

Cameron Highlands photos!

>> Thursday, December 4, 2008

Woops! It took me a while to upload these. I had to catch up on my Heroes, Gossip Girl and 90210, thank you very much. Plus erm, I need to prepare myself for something that came up while I was still on holidays *winkwinknudgenudge* I don't know! I'm just so confused!! Erm, there is a Malay saying that says don't count the eggs until it's hatched? Or don't count the chickens until they're hatched? (How did I ever pass my BM paper for SPM?? *rolleyes*) I'll get to that later when it's more settled.

Some photos had to be censored due to somewhat controversial content mwahahaha!!

Compliment letter for Celcom CSE??!!

>> Wednesday, November 19, 2008

From: Shareen Saleh
To: 'careline@celcom.com.my'
Cc:
Subject: Compliment for your agent

To whom it may concern,

Please refer to my mobile number 013-3******. I had a previous accounts dispute that has since been resolved. I called your Careline yesterday to get an update regarding my issue.

The first agent I spoke to was obviously a newbie. He did not understand my issue and did not seem to be familiar with the system he was using enough to extract the information that I requested. I tried the friendly approach and playfully asked him if he was new. He turned sullen and rude almost immediately. I was not trying to be offensive, just trying to make him more relaxed so he would be able to assist me better. As a customer, I should not have to resort to this in order to get the service I deserve. I would like to recommend a refresher training for the agent in customer service skills so other customers won’t have to put up with him surly attitude and poor system and product knowledge.

I saved the best for last. The second time I called, I was assisted by an agent named Wali (ID 3705). He was helpful and informative. He was able to answer all my enquiries in a satisfactory manner and we even managed to have a nice chat together. He sounded confident and was efficient to go thru the system while explaining everything to me. Speaking to him was a pleasant experience and I can only hope that other agents would be able to live up to his standards. Please convey my sincerest gratitude to him for being such a good sport while doing his best to assist me. I hope the management team will recognize his effort and award him accordingly.

Warm Regards,

Shareen Saleh

Birthday Weekend rocks! Thank you, baybe!

>> Monday, November 17, 2008

So, I started out being really depressed about my birthday. The one day in a year to see if people appreciate me for the things I've done 355.25 days for the rest of the year... My hubby knew how upset I was and tried very hard to make me happy. I mean, he's a great guy... not the most romantic person on earth but when he tries to be romantic it's so sweeeett.... Even tried to surprise me a with a really mushy birthday card, which is saying something since we've known each other for 10 years now and it's not easy to surprise each other anymore heh! I'll get some photos of the card to upload later.

So for the weekend, we dropped off Syakirah at his mother's and went out to celebrate my birthday. We watched Quantum of Solace at GSC Mid Valley, the 9.30pm show. Oh, but before that, he bought me birthday gift. It was a choice of a purse and a perfume, so I chose perfume. I can get cheap knock-offs for purses at Danau Kota or Cheras Downtown, but the fake perfumes don't smell as nice, do they? He got me Vera Wang's Princes..

It smells a lot like my old Sui Dreams by Anna Sui. It smells like vanilla. Mmm yummy!

Met up with my sister and her BF, Farah and Erfan, later to go to Danau Kota to get me my cheap knock-off purse muahahaha! I actually bought 2!! Woops! In my defence, the first one was a fluke. The second purse I got was a pink Anna Sui purse, a bit too girlish for me but hey!

Pardon the quality of the images. I forgot to snap the pictures myself and had to have Baybe emergency-MMS them to me. No Cybershot technology was used and therefore I cannot be held liable for the quality of the pics hehe..

Later we went to makan at Steven's Corner. My stomach was still on Daylight Savings Time so I could only barely eat my nasi lemak sotong goreng. We were pigging out on fries, toasted read and baked beans as well. At 2.30 am in the morning??!!! Ahhh, the glory days of my lost youth...

Thank you for making me happy, Baybe. Love you much!!!

Next up, 2nd honeymoon trip to Cameron Highlands next week. Wheee!!!

Today's Catchphrase is "Sleep Deprived"

7.55 am

I am so sleep deprived it's not even funny. I am running on autopilot mode at the mo'. My brain is a big ball of mush. And there's no new Heroes episode to look forward too!!

I barely have a couple of hours sleep last night. It was just one of those nights where the baby just wouldn't sleep. At least my hubby gets to sleep in today cause it's his day off. I have to drive to work in the unGodly hours of the wee morning with my eyelids barely opened, trying not to run into a ditch somewhere. I miss working afternoon shifts *sob*

I wanna be making graphics again! Huwaaa!!!!

>> Tuesday, October 28, 2008

I totally miss making graphics. I want to make graphics again. I miss my Photoshop. SOB! I'm not paying subscription to Livejournal every 2 months for nothing y'know.

My babies..

I need to get a new HDD. My outdated (yet still lovable - gotta be careful with what I say. My computer has feelings. I shit you not!) 40GB system disc is only a mere stone's throw away from being filled to capacity and my second is still MIA as fas as my BIOS is concerned. I'm thinking of getting a 300GB HDD this time mwahahahaha! And that will take like 16 hours to defragment, if I'm lucky.

Gotta back up everything, format the new HDD, install drivers, import my shit back... Can I take a whole week off from work to do this? Gotta test my Sims2 games and all after all
[^_-] I'm sure there must be allocation for that somewhere in my contract - heh.

I had a dream...

>> Thursday, October 23, 2008

And what a strange dream it was. My dreams always have linear yet illogical, movie like quality to it. Usually these kind of dreams are really fresh when you first wake up but gradually fades through out the day, but the feeling it leaves behind stays with you. I barely remember last night's dream, but what I remember most is having Edward Cullen of Twilight(!) series in it.

Now I'll just go through the bit I remember most.

Edward was coming over to my house to see someone (Bella?). Some guys didn't like the fact the he was a vampire and they were gonna beat him up. I wanted to tell them that Edward was a good guy and he didn't deserve to be treated like that but I also knew that they couldn't possibly hurt, immortal vampire and all that he is. I did try to convince the guys to leave Edward alone but they ignored me.

When Edward showed up in front of my house, the guys went over and beat him up. I watched from like 10 feet away, feeling anxious, which doesn't make sense but no part of this dream makes sense anyways. It went on for a bit longer than I was able to be patient for and I was just picking up some form of weapon to help him when it was all over. All the guys left him looking pleased with themselves, the imaginary bastards!

Edward walks in looking all sad emotionally hurt. I put my arms around him to give him a hug and he cries! Erm, right.

Edward, kindly grow some balls, please.

Methinks I better stop re-reading my Twilight books. This is just so messed up. Obviously, my subconscious thinks Edward is pretty whipped for a powerful immortal but who cares? If a Mary Sue character written by someone who most likely was a closet ff.net writer can make it to the big screens, then dang it so can my slashy stuff! LOL I wish!

Arrrgh! The pain!

>> Monday, October 20, 2008

My tooth hurts. Damn it! Adeh! Adeh! Adoiiiiii!!!! I feel like I want to bite someone's head off.

On Saturday, I didn't go the Team Building because of really bad case of migraine. My right side of the head all hurts. My eye hurts, my ear hurts, my neck hurts, even my teeth hurt! So, naturally I thought that my migraine triggered the tooth problem. Yesterday, no more migraine but still toothache. And last night! It just keep throbbing and hurts so bad.

I've had worse, of course. But I can tell this is gonna be a bad one. The problem is that it triggers my migraine too. So double bummer. And my medical card doesn't cover dental, so triple bummer.

Arrggh!!! Here come the pain.

I feel dead beat tired and under appreciated. My days go on and on, with barely a moment's pause. Sometimes I forget to breathe. I am trying to make this work but sometimes it's just so... hard. I need a time out. Some time for me. I'm not sure if I can ever make you understand. This is silly. When was the last time I was able to be honest like this? A while, I'll bet. Is there anywhere for me to turn to? Just feeling emo-ish at the mo'. It'll pass. It always does.

In the absensence of light

Haven't updated here in a while. But I am proud to unveil my new blog, just my for TV shows here! Well, mostly proud, cause it still need a lot of work, but hey, at least I'm updating that one on a regular basis ^_^ Oh, and they're not my TV shows. Just the whole bunch of them that I watch on a regular basis.

This week, Daylight Savings is on. Basically it just means that for the next 6 months(?), Ausies will be 3 hours ahead of us, instead of 2. It also means we have to get to work an hour earlier huwaaaa!!!! At least it's still the same for me at 6am. Could be worse. I could have gotten the 5am shift. Erk! That is just inhuman.

Main reason didn't wanna update coz I was bummed out about having to work on Raya. At least back in Celcom, I could request for afternoon shift or something. I just want to spend the first Raya morning at home. But maybe, I won't have to worry about that anymore???

Oh, and I am finally better. Almost. Darn cough and flu was bugging me for almost 2 weeks. It's been a while since I was sick like. I just wanted to curl up in bed for a week and not leave the house. Alhamdulillah, getting better now.

Well, I'm off to watch 90210. Later!

Obituary piece from a local PC magazine...

>> Thursday, September 25, 2008

This is the formal announcement for my second HDD that has finally meet its ultimate demise...

Rest in pieces you bastard! Damn you to hell for taking all my graphics, resources, MP3s and illegally downloaded TV shows! I curse you to the undying pits of hell for giving up on precious life without giving me any prior warning. Damn you!!!!!

There's still a couple of options for me to try to resuscitate you. I'll give it a go when I have the time. In the mean time, you are SO not on my favourite people list for not letting me make new icons for Supernatural's season 4 epi 1, Lazarus Rising and for slashing Dean with the new hunk on the block, a fallen angel nevertheless(!), Castiel.

Oh, and Al-fatihah.

I honest to God feel like crap. To take MC or just ask permission not to answer calls today, I wonder. I'm so worried about being labeled as "dodgy" that I'm willing to suffer for this. Typical me. Always worry about others before worrying about myself. It'll be the death of me one of these days.
Yesterday, like 5 minutes before Buka, I went to the toilet and discovered that my dinding uterus has finally runtuh. Huwaaa!!! Just 5 more minutes to go! Can't you girls hang on for that long? And my horribly annoying cough won't let up. Now I have asthma. Already took my medicine like the good girl that I am, but the side effect has kicked in thus the accelerated heart rate and shaky fingers.

Calls not so bad this morning. Maybe I'll make it yet. Here's hoping to that. We'll see how it goes.

Not feeling so festive. No cuti raya for me. So erm, if all goes well, maybe this will be the last time I worry about that? Insya-Allah...

Alltime Official Song For The Blues

>> Friday, September 5, 2008

Bad hair aside, this is the song that keeps repeating in my playlist when I'm feeling sad.

To Be With You - Mr Big

Hold on little girl
Show me what he's done to you
Stand up little girl
A broken heart can't be that bad

When it's through, it's through
Fate will twist the both of you
So come on baby come on over
Let me be the one to show you

I'm the one who wants to be with you
Deep inside I hope you feel it too
Waited on a line of greens and blues
Just to be the next to be with you

Build up your confidence
So you can be on top for once
Wake up who cares about
Little boys that talk too much

I've seen it all go down
Your game of love was all rained out
So come on baby, come on over
Let me be the one to hold you

Chorus

Why be alone when we can be together baby
You can make my life worthwhile
And I can make you start to smile

When it's through, it's through
Fate will twist the both of you
So come on baby come on over
Let me be the one to show you

Feelin' blue

This is the last straw. I am totally feeling demotivated. Not about anything specific per-se, just about life as a whole. I've been having a string of really bad luck lately. It's just one thing after another in such a short span of time. I swear somebody is out there to get me. Why am I missing the big picture? Is God too tired of sending subtle hints to me that he's sent major ones so I would stand up and take notice? It's like I have a giant magnet on my back that keeps attracting bad luck or something. I just want to crawl into my happy place and stay there until everything goes away.

I know the routine. There's a silver lining and every dark cloud. Things always get worse before they get better.
Blah blah blah. That's all great. When things are starting to look up those are all fantastic. But when you're on a downhill spiral and you just discovered that your brakes are out, you have no choice but to clip on your seat belt, grab a helmet if you have time, and hang on for dear life. *SIGH*

Is it time for a change yet?

Every dark cloud has a silver lining
But lightning kills hundreds of people each year who are trying to find it

Again??!!! How many times do we have to go thru this? Last night at about 11.45pm while I was reading in disbelieve that Edward would be stupid enough to leave Bella, and Bella was stupid enough to get involved with Jacob (I mean, vampires are way cooler than werewolves IMHO) the power went out again. Damn you TNB!!! I mean like, yesterday when their technician finally came over, they told us that we had to replace some thingy on the main power board. They sent one of their kroni electrician over and charged RM400. And last night the whole neighborhood didn't have power... again. What is up with that? 3 times within a week is just too much.

My history with TNB has been long and ugly. Imagine having power outage at least once a week for 3 months. There was a time when the entire row of houses on my street, ours included, suddenly had a surge in electricity bills. And I mean way, way too much, like RM600 for that month alone. We already lodged a complaint about the construction site in our housing area that seems to be stealing the electricity illegally but probably because TNB already been paid hush-hush money, they just ignored our complaints. The even had the nerve to tell us to just pay up or the will cut the power to our house. They will investigate our issue further and will rebate back into our account.

Bullshit!

I loathe them from the bottom of my aircond-less soul.

I should've stayed in PD. I regret almost every moment of not staying the extra day. Things have just been going wrong since we got back yesterday. I will proceed to tell my story in a disjointed manner since my brain is a big puddle of mush right now.

As soon as we got home, Baybe was still unloading our stuff from the car and I was watching Syakirah while she watched her TV shows. Suddenly she started crying. Poor thing had an upset stomach. She just wanted to hold on to me and cried. We gave her some medicine, bathed her and put her to sleep. Wahid, the stray cat the we have informally adopted, broke into the house while we were gone and thrashed the kitchen. The bathroom was muddy, it must've rained real hard on Friday or Saturday and flooded the bathroom. Things were pretty settled for a few hours. We went to bed. Syakirah woke up crying at abour 2am. We put her back to sleep and went back to bed. At about 3.45am, I woke up and realized that there was no electricity. Baybe called TNB and reported it. About an hour later, the electricity came back on. When my alarm sounded at 5.20am, no more power - again!
WTF?? And it was only our house too. All the other houses already had their power back on. Had to shower in the freezing cold and dress in the dark. Thank God, I didn't end up looking like a homicidal maniac.

I had a feeling about today. *SIGH*

I should have stayed in bed.

Stephanie Meyer's Twilight

I've actually bought Stephanie Meyer's Twilight yesterday. I have yet to determine whether or not I regret it. So far, it's been easy reading. No complicated myth or lore to boggle the mind. I just can't stop thinking that if Anne Rice ever decided to write a Sweet Valley novel, this is what it would be like, Instead of California with all the sun, sea and malls, it features a small town called Forks that always rains and is dark and foggy, and basically is Lestat's favorite vacation getaway ;-P The main character of the story is a girl called Isabella Swan, Bella, who is pale skinned and not athletic at all, and never really fit in with people around. If she doesn't end up being a vampire in some later chapters or book in the series, then I am no judge of vampire stories. But she will. I've read the spoilers - heh.

Nothing challenging so far in the earlier chapters. Will read again later. I might not buy the rest of the books in the series. I love comparing different vampire lores, the classic Bram Stoker's Count Dracula, Anne Rice's sensual vampires, the virus infected Blade and gang (say it with me... Daywalker), Christopher Pike's Aryan vampire, Sita, who happens to be the last one BTW... Why doesn't nobody ever write about Malaysian vampires a.k.a. Pontianak is what I want to know. And toyol. And hantu pocong.
